WHOOPIE!!
I’m free! School is finally over! Well, at least that semester! =( I turned in my report just before the deadline. I went to Staples and bought a punch-less folder for my report which said it had the capacity for 50 pages. Well, it’s not nice to lie! My landlady even thought to see if it would accept less pages. It refused. So, I went back to Office Max and found a clear folder cover (not ideal, but now I’m desperate!). I added a little more pizzazz with a silver binder clip and handed it to Prof Shin. He is very nice. The first week of school, my life was normal… The Saturday after school started, my life turned upside-down and this was the first professor who was told about it (since I had to tell him I wasn’t going to be in class on Monday night – my second professor’s car was stolen that very week too, so he was very understanding)! He asked about my doggie and if anything had changed. Sadly, no, but we agreed to see each other around. =)
The wedding was fabulous! I had such a great time connecting with everyone again. I guess I should qualify that to say that I only knew a handful of people in the entire building since the grooms’ court came from my old church, whereas I didn’t know the bride, her family or any of her friends. I was telling Deb & Jeff that my favorite moments were when our table – half from CA & half from AZ –were swapping stories about the bride and groom (they were in the same situation. Although they had seen him, they didn’t know anything about her now-husband). First, you should know that the bride is a pastor’s kid and so many were expecting a very tame gentlemen to marry her... The dialogue went something like this:
Arizonans: Niki is such a marvelous girl! We’ve known her since she was a kid. Her family would have us over frequently and we’d all go to church together on Sunday morning. She cares deeply for others and would be genuinely happy for you if something wonderful happened in your life, even if things were not so great in hers…
Californians: We’ve known Tim for 8-9 years now. He used to have A LOT of hair. It was very long in the back and a HUGE beard in the front!
Arizonans: [gasp of horror!]
Californians: He also wore his Birkenstocks until they had holes in the sole or he went barefoot. We can only remember one time he actually wore shoes!
Arizonans: [gasp!]What made him cut his hair?
Californians: "Running marathons!
Arizonans: [gasp!]
Very fun!
I have been thinking about the next tier of things to do: make a schedule and be disciplined on the work for my next class, marriage counseling, planning the wedding, house repairs, mending some of my clothes, etc. I need to get organized!
Off to my next adventure… Funding loans!
