Now's the Time

Wow! That was fast!

Did you know that it’s December 1st?? So much time has passed since I posted last! OOPS!

We’re still really happy and enjoying the fact that one of us doesn’t have to leave anymore at night. And, Will’s not afraid to do laundry, the dishes or even to cook! What can I say ladies!?! I married the RIGHT man!! =)

I’ve also inherited some new “children” – two large dogs. One Rottweiler (“Champ” a.k.a. “The Big Ox” because he doesn’t know how big he is) and one mutt (“Buddy” a.k.a. “The Big Dummy” because he’s easily excitable and clueless). Champ is the sweetest but the most intimidating looking dog ever, and Buddy is exactly the opposite; he looks very charming, but he’ll bite strangers without warning. They’re both jealous dogs, so we separate them and one’s usually in the bathroom. Will bought them both large bones a few weeks ago and they have been working on them gradually. Between the wood floors and them working to position and chew, we hear a lot of THUMP, THUMP, THUMP! One night, Will said, “Champ’s playing the drums in there.” And then he must have picked up his bone and tried to turn around because we heard a big DING! Champ hit the toilet bowl and it sounded just like a cymbal crash! We just laughed…. =)

I’ve been driving a lot more than I’m used to and strategizing a little on the commute. It has taken me as long as 2 hours to get home! (Only once, thank the Lord! I arrived in tears out of frustration.) Sadly, the train routes won’t help because of the location of the stations. So now, after work, I work on my homework. I’m about 1/3 of the way done with the paper, and I’m actually enjoying writing it! I did a lot of prep work before I had to surrender the library books, and I’m so glad! I have another week until I can turn it in, but it’s not late until after the 15th. And this commute will only last another few weeks anyway. Praise the Lord!!

Thanksgiving was good. We spent it with my uncle, his kids and grandkids in Corona. I’m experimenting with recipes and I brought a new one – Fruit Salsa. It’s kind of like fruit salad with a kick: green onions & yellow peppers. It was okay & my cousin took loads of it! Will said he’d never eat another bite! It is interesting learning what your husband will and won’t eat… =)

We were blessed by all the wedding gifts, but I’m afraid that the thank you cards will have to wait at least another month. With the holidays, moving and my paper, ugh! So much to do!! We still have to get through wedding pictures. And for those of you who signed up to receive the photos via the web: Rest assured they’re coming!

Work has been busy and at times frustrating. I closed a $25MM transaction yesterday! My largest loan yet! Afterwards, I sent out an internal thank you e-mail to all involved and at the end, I added, “And now I need some chocolate!” A few hours later, a DARK CHOCOLATE (OHH!!) ESPRESSO (OH-LA-LA!) bar arrived on my desk by an anonymous donor. What a wonderful treat!! =) I also told the borrower “Merry Christmas” and when I hung up the people on the other side of the cubicle wall were laughing. “Do you suppose it’s too early to wish them a Merry Christmas?” I asked. One, still laughing, replied, “Since you sent them $25MM, I’m pretty sure you can say whatever you want to!”

Oh, and Will and I are both sick. We both went to the doctor’s and got medicine and we finished the dosage, but neither of us are fully 100% yet. He gave it to me, I gave it back to him, he gave it back to me…. What can I say; sharing is an important feature in our relationship! =) It’s an upper respiratory virus. The winds in Rialto are crazy in the morning (and often at night) so there must be something to that….

Anyway, life in a nutshell for us at the moment. More later.
